Read me!
Welcome to the Amateur Comics Mag. official web page. I decided to start out with a blog page because it was much faster. We may turn it into a website later.

Well, for those of you who haven't heard yet, my friends and I have been working a plan for a new project. We are attempting to create a magazine for amateur comics/manga.

Here's how it will work. People can send in their homemade comics and we will collect them into a book and distribute it out to people who want to read it.

For now, we plan to go buy some nice paper and ink, and we will print the books at home. Those who want a copy will e-mail me with their name and address and it will be sent to them by mail.

In order to pay for this, we will be charging a small fee for submitting entries.

We are planing to have three sections in the book:

1. The comics. Submissions will cost 50 cents per page with a limit of 20 pages. I'd prefer that all lettering be done digitally. If we need to enlarge or shrink the page at all, hand written letters may become impossible to read.

2.Story ideas. For those of you who can write great story lines but can't draw a stick figure, here is a section for you. Here is how it works. Make up an incredible story. Start out by writing a short paragraph that basically explains your storyline. Then write out an important scene in your story. Don't send in the whole story. We just want a sample of your work, not your full work. This way, an artist may read your idea and if they are interested in your story, they can get in contact with you about putting together a comic. These will also be 50 cents a page, with a limit of 5 pages.

3.Sample art. Of course, we'll have to have a section for the artist who can't write. Here, you can't send in some samples of your artwork. Pictures of characters you designed, objects, back rounds, animals, etc. You will want more than just anime looking people you drew. These will also be 50 cents a page with a limit of 5 pages.

Rules:

All work must be original. We will not be doing fan work here, sorry. Don't want to take any chances on copyright issues.

All work much be G rated. For now, lets keep it clean. There will be no way to know if the people asking for copy's are of the right age. We don't need to be sued by an angry mother who found out we sent her 9 year old son a dirty comic book. For now, let's stay away from the heavy violence, sex, drugs, and rock&roll. OK, the rock&roll is alright, but stay away from the others. You know what I'm talking about.

Don't send your originals. Send photocopies of your work, because you probably won't get them back. If you don't care about getting them back, then go ahead and send them. You've been warned.

To send in entries:

Comics will be sent by snail mail. Get a large envelope, put in your comics printed out or on a disc is fine. Print out the permission form that I will send to you when asked for it, sign it and place in the envelope. Then, you will need a money order for the amount due. (I'll talk more about money orders in a moment). Seal it shut, and send it to:

Sara Salas
PO Box 593
Palo Cedro CA 96073

Be sure to add your e-mail address. If there is a problem with your submission, or for some reason it gets rejected, I will e-mail you and let you know. If we do not use your submission, your money will be refunded.

Stories and sample art can be send by mail or e-mail. I'd prefer stories by e-mail, that way I can just copy and paste them. Artwork, however, may take a long time to download. I'd prefer it be sent by snail mail, either on paper or on a disc. Whether or not you send the submission in by snail mail, you'll still have to send the permission form and money order that way.

Please e-mail me before sending any entries. Send and e-mail to TurkeyBaster510@hotmail.com
Tell me your name, address, e-mail address, and what you want to submit.

Money orders should be made out to Sara Salas.
We will not be excepting any other form of cash at this time. No checks or credit cards. Send cash at your own risk. I don't recommend that though.

Money donations will be excepted and greatly appreciated. Donaters will automatically be reserved a copy of the finished work.

Distribution.
Once we have everything together and the book all laided out, we will see how much money we have and how many copies we can afford to make. Participants and donaters will get their copies first. Then, we will take requests. I will post a date when we will start taking requests. First come, first served. To request a copy, you will e-mail me your name and address. Please, no requests until I ask for them. I'll have trouble keeping track of everyone.

There is no set deadline right now, due to the fact that people need time to work on their entries. However, when we get enough entries for a certain section, that section will close. That is why I want people to e-mail me before sending things. I see there are many who want to send in artwork or stories. We do need comics too. So, encourage you to take a stab at it.

Well, enough of my rambling. If there is anything I forgot, I'll post it later. I do want whoever is planing on submitting something for sure, to e-mail me and let me know. Even if it is going to take a while to complete. I need to get an idea of what I'm going to get.

Don't rush yourself too bad, take the time to do a good job. And remember, this is just for fun, you don't have to strain yourself too much and worry about getting it perfect. Have fun with it.

Well, please excuse any spelling errors. It is 1am, I'm quite tired. I do look forward to hearing from you all.
